Every sound you hear in “Life in Warp” was created from field recordings of living beings that are or have been endangered since the beginning of the Anthropocene.
These sounds went through multiple processes of extreme digital manipulation to be transformed into musical elements. With these methods the species voices and sounds are recontextualized and pulled from their collapsing ecosystems into a new world of organic electronic music. A new way of “conserving” life with the digital medium, creating a new chance of hearing life in a different way, until one day this technology follows the same path as this ecosystems and becomes obsolete.
We are facing the worst crisis humanity has ever seen. There are more than 1 million endangered species. Since 1970 Earth has lost 60% of all animal life. We are living the 6th mass extinction. We urgently need to stop, listen, imagine and act. We have everything to lose, so we will fight with everything we have. The clock is ticking.
