Archivo Pittoresco is an archive and appropriation project conceived by Isabel Pereira. To archive is to collect. We all collect something, something. Collecting is a continuous movement of the subconscious when observing and being attracted by what arouses interest or meaning. It can also become an imaginative process of association and consequent materialization. In this case, all the images collected physically and digitally, in old books, magazines, and the internet, are part of a mnemonic language that, when reconciled, incorporate in them a feeling, an argument, and inevitably a re-contextualization.
Instruções Rituais, which brings together Isabel Pereira and João Pinho, emerges from the common search for obscure and harmonious sounds present in the vast field of the 70’s, of the 80’s diy cassettes, selecting through the chronological path bizarre and cosmic ideas through which different rhythmic and energetic states wander.
Son Objet is the ramification of this practice concretized by Isabel as a solo artist.
