NowHere or Never are theoretical courses and immersions from exhibitions and events held in Lisbon institutions, as well as the use of Latin American artists and thinkers passing through the Portuguese capital.

The purpose of this introductory course taught by the curator Cristiana Tejo is to contextualize the Brazilian experimental artistic production based on the analysis of the trajectories of artists participating in the exhibition Alto Nível Baixo, curated by Marta Mestre and Natxo Checa, at Galeria Zé dos Bois. The exhibition brings together rare audiovisual works by almost 20 essential artists of the art of the second half of the 20th century, in Brazil. It is, therefore, a great opportunity to study contemporary art history in close contact with the works. The meeting is divided into two moments: an introduction to the socio-political-cultural moment of the Brazilian artistic environment between 1960 and 1980 and the trajectories and formal experiments of some artists included in the exhibition. In the second moment, we will visit the exhibition together to discuss collectively the issues raised by the works.

Target audience: students, artists, professionals from related fields and interested in Brazilian art.
