On July 24, at 6h30 p.m., Pedro Henriques will meet Cristina Sanchez-Kozyreva and Alexandre Estrela for a conversation about his work on the exhibition Safari.  The exhibition that the artist presents at Zé dos Bois is composed of works done in the last two years, divided between drawings and objects that challenge the spectator’s perceptual capacity, testing the image’s survival at the time of its growing exhaustion.

Pedro Henriques

Pedro Henriques was born in 1985 in Porto, Portugal. He studied painting at the Lisbon Faculty of Fine Arts. His work has been regularly exhibited since 2008. From his recent exhibitions, we highlight those presented in spaces such as Quartel da Arte Contemporânea – Coleção Figueiredo Ribeiro, Abrantes (2018); Národní Galerie, Prague (2017); Galeria Pedro Alfacinha, Lisbon (2016); Museu de Serralves, Porto (2014 and 2016). He edited two books, both called Sidewinder (2013 and 2015). He was finalist of the Prémio EDP Novos Artistas in 2013 and winner of the Novo Banco Revelação award in 2014.

Cristina Sanchez-Kozyreva

Cristina Sanchez-Kozyreva is an author with experience in international relations and strategy. She lived in Asia for 15 years, and currently works and lives between Lisbon and Hong Kong. She is co-founder and editor-in-chief of the Hong Kong-based art magazine Pipeline (print 2011-2016). She regularly contributes to various publications in Asia, Europe and USA, such as Artforum, Frieze and Hyperallergic.

Alexandre Estrela

Alexandre Estrela lives and works in Lisbon. His work addresses formal and conceptual issues resulting from the intersection of images (video and film) with matter. Parallel to his work as a visual artist, he directs Oporto a space in Lisbon where he regularly organizes experimental film and video sessions, where Pedro Henriques was an artist in residency.
