Continuing the accomplice relationship with Amarelo Silvestre, in December ZDB will once again host a creative residency of this theater company from Canas de Senhorim, with artistic direction by Fernando Giestas and Rafaela Santos. At the end of the residency period a conversation with Fernando Giestas, Augusto Brázio and Nelson D’Aires, participants of this creation process, will take place.

Diário de uma República II is the second edition of a Theatre and Photography project by Amarelo Silvestre between 2020 – 2030. An artistic look at what the people and landscapes of Portugal will be throughout a decade. What kind of Theater will be made from what is seen?

After the Justice related to the 1st edition, the 2nd edition of Diário de uma República will focus on the issue of Work, in its broadest sense: the work of the hands, the body, the head, human work in the landscape, gender and social issues of work, the beauty and the ugliness of work. What Theater will result from the act of actually (seeing) ourselves? Photographing to extend the gaze. Photographing the Real, already imagining Theater.

The second edition of Diario de uma República will premiere on June 10, 2023, in Loulé, in a co-production with Cineteatro Louletano, TNMDII, Teatro São Luiz, Teatro do Noroeste – Centro Dramático de Viana, Teatro Diogo Bernardes, and the Municipality of Seia. Before that, between 2022 and 2023, photography residencies will take place in various territories of the country to materialize the artistic look-see of the project.”
