The Free School activity takes place on Mondays at 6.30pm. Participation in the classes is by prior registration from site by subscribing to the newsletter.

An encounter with nature

March 6, 2023 (Monday) 6.30pm

Evoking the origin of the free school as a space for dialogue and sharing, we open the session with the proposal of the Master’s research project of Leah Saraiva, who seeks to think about the encounter with nature mediated by the experience of the sensitive, following the path of the trees, the moss, the stones and the little flowers – an intimate world.

The still incipient theoretical project and the works that accompany this research will be presented, leaving the session open for dialogue and exchange of impressions.

A Escola Livre (Free School)

Since 2017, a group of students and teachers, from different areas and curricular contexts, meet weekly for what have been called the free classes. With no programme, no assessments, no curriculum, the meeting usually responds to a motto, proposed in the previous session by any of the participants. This place, the place of the school – now called free school – is where we can come to learn to teach, and to teach by learning.

On October 11, 2021, the first meeting took place in a new space – Galeria Zé dos Bois – which hosts the free school in residence this school year! It was a moment of discovery and sharing, remembering some clues from previous classes. Inspired by a title by Maria Gabriela Llansol, The Beginning of a Book is Precious, we think we can say: this new beginning of the school is being precious.
