Diogo Evangelista lives and works in Lisbon. His work reflects on the status of the image and its potential as a counterculture vehicle. Having as a starting point appropriate materials and archives, he produces non-linear narratives and speculative views about the real. João Laia’s projects explore the relationships between social structures, technology and representation. Recently he presented at the MMOMA – Museum of Modern Art in Moscow (2016), a strategic project for the 5th Biennial of Young Art and Hybridize or Disappear at the MNAC – National Museum of Contemporary Art of Chiado (2015). He collaborated with institutions such as MAAT in Lisbon, Videoex in Zurich, Lage Park in Rio de Janeiro, Moderna Museet in Stockholm, DRAF – David Roberts Art Foundation, South London Gallery and Whitechapel Gallery in London. He is the curator of the Videobrasil festival in São Paulo. He writes regularly for Mousse magazine and has published in newspapers and magazines such as Frieze, Spike Art Quarterly, Flash Art and Public.
