The exhibition O contra-ceu Ensaio sobre o Hiato presents an installation realized specifically for the Galeria Ze dos Bois, formed by drawings, sculptures, objects, and also an exclusive film. The work was born by parallel reading 2 texts: a dialogue from Giordano Bruno where the classic objection about the limits of the universe are discussed (…) what would happen if someone, with his hand, breaks through the surface of the universe? Burchio, one of the characters involved in the dialogue, answers (…) if someone held his hand from the other side of this convex, he wouldn’t be somewhere, but would be nowhere and, by consequence, wouldn’t be; and the poem “Desilusão ” from “René Daumal”, taken from his book “Le Contre-Ciel”, about the absolute limit and the escaping instant of the discontinuity that separates life and death. This essay evokes the hiatus as a concept that stars, paradoxically, the conjunction of these 2 asymptotic lines.
