With the participation of the author, Djaimilia Pereira de Almeida, Daniel Blaufuks and Humberto Brito.
‘O Livro da Patrícia’ [‘Patrícia’s Book’] was elaborated from an unfinished project of the photographer and visual artist Patrícia Almeida, who died five years ago. It gathers and dialogues texts and images about photography, memory, absence.
‘With each photograph that I discover, her image is reactualized. Instantly, all her other photographs are erased. No other image of her counts. There is only this last one. It monopolizes all my attention. It is a provisional and absolute image. I remember the funeral home representative’s request to choose a photograph to accompany the casket. To find that ultimate image. An image that is a core, the junction of physics and metaphysics, the focal point of its essence. But they are only constant variations, an automated shuttle, an uncontrolled autofocus, impossible focuses of that which does not cease to vibrate.’
For the launch, the author invited some readers to share their reading impressions: photographer Daniel Blaufuks, writer Djaimilia Pereira de Almeida, and photographer and researcher Humberto Brito. Following the launch, Tiago Baptista will play some records.
