Som Crescente #3 with guest artist Demian Cabaud (bass) will feature a mixed group of musicians that will focus loosely on compositional and improvisational frameworks descended from the rich tradition of Jazz and African-American improvised music. The group will navigate pieces by composers such as Jackie Mclean, Ornette Coleman, Charlie Parker, Herbie Nichols and others, in addition to pieces by Cabaud and Evans. The ensemble will engage creatively with the repertoire, as well as explore more open improvisational structures, combining acoustic and electronic approaches.
