Reloaded is the official 2nd anniversary event of Lisbon’s Black-led creative collective, The Blacker The Berry Project. As the collective celebrates 24 months (and counting) of existence, The Blacker The Berry brings on another intimate gathering, similarly to Sabura Zine Launch in summer 2022, reconnecting with the local community that has been supporting the project since the very beginning allowing it to grow, to provide intentional spaces across the city and highlighting the emerging talent through creative intervention. Reloaded will bring back known artists associated to the project, such as the rising Cape Verdean DJ, Mel das Pêras, Santomean finest, Fvbricia and the Angolan DJ and producer, oseias., as well as RAISSA’s debut to TBTB stages and the official launch of the collective’s first merchandise sale – including tote bags, t-shirts and posters designed by Luci Pina in collaboration with Bazofo & Dentu Zona. As always, our community guestlist is open for those who identify themselves as Black, Mixed Black, Afro-Latinx or African-American, to fulfil our mission of creating safer and intentional spaces across the Diaspora, especially for Black LGBTQ+ people. Please, refer to our ‘2023 safer spaces policy’ before buying a ticket or entering our space as this is an event created by a Black queer person, prioritising those of the same group.
The Blacker The Berry — Reloaded
Raissa
RAISSA (she/her) sings live professionally since the age of 15. She has always been enthusiastic about art and its many formats: music, illustration and fashion – hence her academic journey starting as a visual arts student and graduating from high school with a degree in sound. Since then, RAISSA has performed in bars, restaurants and different clubs, ending up as a back vocalist for renowned artists, such as Anselmo Ralph, during his 2019/2020 world tour. Currently, the singer takes part in a new band, Bateu Matou, produces and does vocal direction – all of these elements had made her confident enough to go ahead with her music and the message behind it.
Mel das Pêras
Melissa Pereira (she/her), of Cape Verdean origin, is known for her work within Lisbon cultural scene as an event producer and artist manager. Recently, Melissa has ventured into DJing as Mel das Pêras. From house parties at Manta that made everyone dance and sing to her spontaneous sets at Planeta Manas and opening the main floor at Ministerium and Mina – Mel intends to reflect her life experiences by presenting afrobeat, batida, house, deep house, R&B and soul.
Fvbricia
Fvbricia (she/her), a 24-year-old Santomean young woman, is enthusiastic about experiences and life. She was born in Lisbon and raised in the outskirts of the same city. Graduated in nursing and massage therapy, she expands her interest in wellbeing to the dance floor, through the mixing of Afro, Latin and Caribbean rhythms on the decks – essentially batida, Afrohouse, gqom and amapiano.
oseias.
oseias. (they/them) is an Angolan producer and DJ known by their instrumental albums and various released projects marked by its diversity, unpredictability and navigating through Afro-Eletronic music from South Africa’s amapiano to Angola’s kuduro.
