Ten years ago, A Retrospective was projected as a retrospective for the future. Here it is at last, ten years later. Moving forwards, with their eyes on the rear-view mirror, Mariana and Raquel celebrate their resistance to the fulminating disenchantment, assume themselves to be insistent dreamers, flesh out the manifesto, return to undermine Lisbon, launch the rockets, and lament the reeds. Ten years have gone by in a flash and there’s a cake to blow.
Uma Retrospectiva 2013-2023 is a creation by Mariana Tengner Barros and Raquel Castro based on the celebration of ten years since the premiere of the play Uma Retrospectiva. One of the starting points for this new creation is the re-enactment of some of their most emblematic performances: Stop and think, Mamma and Rach:Holiday in Lisbon and Bronzeado, which are set against the backdrop of Lisbon, a city in constant transformation and very exposed to the phenomena of gentrification, property speculation and touristification.
This celebration leads us to a personal, artistic and social reflection on the work carried out in 2013, in the light of the ten years that have passed.
