ZDB Müzique – September 2025

FRIDAY SEPTEMBER 5TH / 10PM
Sully ← Mix’Elle
A vivid and creative embodiment of various points of divergence and transition in the UK Hardcore Continuum designed by Simon Reynolds, Sully has shuffled the space-time coordinates mapped by the latter over the years and postulated in Energy Flash, bringing particles of jungle, 2-step, grime, and dubstep out of their chronology. In this process of continuous reordering, Sully encourages more or less subliminal crossovers with footwork or trap, as if imagining a fluid cartography where memories of the past are felt in the present and hints of the future, without a fixed point of reference.

Music has always been a part of Michelle Borja aka Mix’Elle. Inspired by various spectrums of the musical universe, it is difficult to classify her sound in a single style. She is currently involved in several projects and, in addition to being co-founder of Interesting Constellation, she collaborates with Angel from Planeta Manas, where she makes her debut as a producer with the release Spiritual Rhythms.

Drew McDowall ← Ndr0n
An absolute legend at the forefront of British music, Drew McDowall has been exploring new soundscapes for almost half a century. A driving force in industrial music, he played with Coil and Psychic TV, adding a whole new sonic dimension, full of visions and hallucinations that would inspire future generations.
Using a wide range of electronic and acoustic instruments, he dialogues with the potential of both natures, always on the threshold of boundaries. An unmissable and necessary return to ZDB.

Ndr0n: Sonic improvisation with analog synthesizers that give rise to digital visual forms.

FRIDAY SEPTEMBER 19TH / 9PM + SATURDAY SEPTEMBER 20TH / 8PM
Festival Ano Q at ZDB
On September 19 and 20, Rádio Quântica presents the fifth edition of its non-profit community festival, Ano Q.
ANO Q 2025 brings together a diverse selection of artistic projects that challenge the boundaries of the mainstream through their practice. The cultural program of this festival represents direct resistance to profit-based events, seeking to offer an alternative to the mainstream of an increasingly gentrified Lisbon, where a polished cultural standardization imposed from above or from outside has become the norm.
Over the two days of the festival, we will be able to watch performances by Marlene Ribeiro, Margô, Andrei Bessa, Muleca XIII, Saya, Tiago Sousa, I’A’V, Sambacção, Jenny Larrue, Roda de Sample, Maribel b2b Marcolan, and DJ Narciso, as well as visit the exhibition by The Blacker The Berry.

SUNDAY SEPTEMBER 21ST / 7PM
Alan Licht ← Alek Rein
A figure of superlative importance in the New York scene since the early 1990s, Alan Licht has been mapping the boundaries between minimalism, rock, free improvisation, and sound art. Throughout his career, his mastery as a guitarist has been particularly central. On his European tour, which includes a stop at ZDB’s Aquário, Licht brings the visions of the monumental Havens, a double album released by VDSQ in 2024, where you can feel the nerve of rock and the urgency of punk in levitation.

Alek Rein is a solo project by Portuguese-American guitarist and singer-songwriter Alexandre Rendeiro, who explores various strands of classic rock—from San Francisco psychedelia to 1960s glam and folk. With lyrics that evoke mythology and ordinary lives, Alek Rein has performed at major Portuguese venues and festivals and opened for renowned international artists.

TUESDAY SEPTEMBER 23RD / 9PM
Getdown Services ← O Simples Mente
The duo of Josh Law and Ben Sadler makes music that doesn’t seem serious, but immediately strikes a chord. Getdown Services seems to be the answer for a post-pandemic generation, during wars that ruin the lives of everyone who can be ruined, the dynamism that is absent from our lives and that comes out in abundance in their songs. Lacking formality, they continue the party that Sexual Harassment left unfinished, with the urgency of Sleaford Mods and humor straight out of British television. As absurd as they are real, we are living in good times for music like that of Getdown Services.

O Simples Mente’s music is a translation of the way he sees the world – “If I don’t write what I think, I forget it.” ATROPELEI-ME, his latest EP, is marked by a mixture of conscious hip-hop with lo-fi and pop in a spontaneous and emotional register, without following fixed formulas, reflecting the artist’s creative liberation.

WEDNESDAY SEPTEMBER 24TH / 9PM
Hayden Pedigo presents I’ll Be Waving As You Drive Away ← P.S. LUCAS
The highly charismatic Hayden Pedigo returns to this stage with his new album, I’ll Be Waving As You Drive Away, in which he once again explores the landscapes of deepest America with an increasingly refined sense of vision. Illuminated by synthesizer, violin, and pedal steel arrangements, the melodies on the new album ascend to a kind of contemplative psychedelia, a sweet melancholy that absorbs the immensity of the road and distills it into songs of an almost casual fluidity. Good-natured and subtly emotional. But complete.

P. S. Lucas has been perfecting the art of songwriting for some time now. His solo debut, In Between, echoed the masters of modern songwriting—from Cohen to Callahan, from Drake to Brassens—but with a signature all his own. The recently released Villains & Chieftains is yet another quiet revolution that continues to stir the hearts of its listeners.

SATURDAY SEPTEMBER 27TH / 10PM
Acopia presents Blush Response ← c-mm
Acopia are an Australian trio formed by Kate Durman, Lachlan McGeehan, and Morgan Wright. On their new album, they continue to focus on dream pop as their main genre. However, this time around, they look to Baggy and hypnagogic pop as references to add to their already wide range of influences. These are songs made for us to feel, cry, and dance under the moonlight on a night that seems endless.

c-mm are a quartet from the outskirts of Lisbon. Their latest EP, Dar a Volta, consists of 12 and a half minutes of music in which c-mm say what they have to say, about others and above all about themselves, with the only goal defined beforehand being to deliver a faithful testimony to c-mm’s inner reality.
