Livraria Zé dos Bois has taken off one of its book walls to accommodate artistic intervention projects. It is in this context that it receives Torno, by Eduardo Fonseca e Silva & Francisca Valador, invited by Joana Leão.
Torno’ is the translation of a painting made by four hands. A watercolour whose motif is represented in its original scale, and therefore so infine and insignificant. A fusilli paste that will have a feeding purpose, like Archimedes’ screw. A piece of wood like a wall or the missing piece. The shell of a snail, a shelter, empty.
The painting is surrounded by a black material, carpet, which surrounds it like a shadow. Another equally dark circular body faces it. Its shape repeats the painted ones, its cut-outs give them another meaning.
