Inês Raposo

Inês Raposo (b. 1995) is a visual artist based in Lisbon. She holds a degree in Painting from the Faculty of Fine Arts at the University of Lisbon (2014–2018), during which time she undertook an Erasmus+ programme in Fine Arts at the Oslo National Academy of the Arts in Oslo in 2017. Her artistic training began at the António Arroio Art School, on the Artistic Production — Visual Arts in Performance course.

Her work is based on painting and drawing, although she occasionally turns to installation. Her compositions address biographical themes, whether drawn from memories or photographs, as well as contemporary political, gender and social issues, which sometimes overlap with reinterpretations of certain themes from the history of art. These fantastical subversions, characterised by a fluid and humorous anachronism, lend her practice a diverse character, incorporating different technical styles. Her works combine a personal and contemporary vision with a visual language closely tied to everyday life, featuring portraits, landscapes and meticulous details of small objects, thereby reinforcing the artist’s interest in figuration and the narrative dimension of visual practice.

She has regularly taken part in exhibitions and artistic projects. Among her most recent highlights are her participation in the Campo em Comum artist residency at Casa das Histórias Paula Rego; Standard Deviation (Rialto6, Lisbon, 2025), a group exhibition curated by Gabriel Abrantes; and Holbein Syndrome (Galeria Francisco Fino, Lisbon, 2025), curated by Francisca Portugal. In 2025, she was nominated for The 2025 Sovereign Portuguese Art Prize, featuring in the exhibition of selected artists at the Sociedade Nacional de Belas-Artes in Lisbon.
