MURDER and murder (1996), directed by Yvonne Rainer, is a romantic comedy that follows the late-in-life romance between Mildred, a longtime lesbian, and Doris, who falls in love with a woman for the first time. The film candidly explores female aging, lesbian sexuality, and breast cancer, interweaving the couple’s relationship with the director’s meta-cinematic commentary.
