Quem Faz Correr Quim? (1992)
By Mariano Bartolomeu
(fic, 21’)
To be presented in digital format.
Very loosely based on the novel Um Assunto Pessoal (1964) by Kenzaburo Oe, Quem Faz Correr Quim? (Who Makes Quim Run?) follows the daily life of an Angolan air force pilot trying to come to terms with his son’s diagnosis of a congenital anomaly. One of the very few Angolan fiction films of the 1990s and a metaphor for the civil war that ravaged the country at the time.
Uma Festa Para Viver (1975)
By Ruy Duarte de Carvalho
(doc, 35’)
To be presented in digital format.
Filmed over the two weeks leading up to Angola’s declaration of independence, Uma Festa Para Viver (A Party To Live) documents the expectations and hopes of part of the population of Luanda on the eve of the long-awaited November 11, 1975. As the days pass and the countdown begins, testimonies are gathered from workers and images are recorded of Luís Maria’s family lunch in Cazenga.
