Iván Haidar is an Argentine artist and performer. He was born in the city of La Plata, lived and worked in Lisbon (at Re.Al, directed by João Fiadeiro), and currently divides his time between Buenos Aires and Barcelona.
He uses his home and his body as tools to create his pieces, weaving a handcrafted web of digital landscapes from fragments extracted from the material world.
Inspired by the desire to offer an absurd and ironic perspective on the world, his works bring together bodies and objects, revealing their seams and creating a language that lies between domestic poetry and fantasy.
He has presented his work at various venues and international festivals, such as Corpos Poéticos (Curitiba, Brazil), the Fiesta Nacional de INT and FIBA (Argentina), and the Lincoln Centre Theatre (New York, USA); FIDCU (Montevideo, Uruguay), Porto Alegre em Cena (Porto Alegre, Brazil) and Pliegues e Despliegues (Bogotá, Colombia). His play ¿COMO LAS COSAS LLEGARON AQUÍ? was nominated for the Rose del Sadler’s Wells Award in London, and throughout his career he has received other international awards – such as the Bienal de Arte Joven and the Teatro del Mundo Award.
