Richard Linklater’s SubUrbia (1996) follows five young friends living in the suburbs of Austin, Texas (USA).
The return of a friend of the group, who has become a rock star, exposes the apathy, lack of meaning, empathy, and responsibility of the five friends towards each other and the direction of their lives.
The film unfolds over the course of one night, under the vertigo of what it means to grow up.
