A film to help you fall asleep. 90 Minutes Power Nap (2024) is a film inspired by the ASMR phenomenon, which stands for ‘Autonomous Sensory Meridian Response’. The film seeks to transpose and expand sensations normally experienced individually into a collective context.

The term ‘ASMR’ first emerged on an online forum when several users were trying to find a name for the feelings of well-being they experienced in their daily lives, such as when having their hair cut or having a book read to them in a calm tone. Previously, these sensations were described as a ‘mental orgasm’ or ‘brain tingling’, and were often not taken seriously. However, since 2008, the demand for and production of these relaxing videos has grown exponentially.

Letícia Costelha and Miguel Tavares

Letícia Costelha (1996, Porto) and Miguel Tavares (1992, Setúbal) have been collaborating as a spontaneous and intermittent artistic duo since 2021. Their studios are a 5-minute walk apart. They work primarily with sculptural and filmic materials, questioning the formation and worship of large stones, as well as soporific phenomena in the digital sphere. They produced 90 Minutos Power Nap (2024), a film/installation designed to induce sleep, with screenings at Galeria Pórtico (São Paulo), Le 6b (Saint-Denis) and Batalha Centro de Cinema (Porto). They are currently preparing for the launch of the book Pensei Que Eras Uma Roca!, a collection of short stories exploring the relationship between human beings and stones of various sizes.
