In the suburbs of Lisbon, Pedro and Rafaela spend the summer immersed in the video games, while Abel and his friends are clashing with the police. “Morte em Agosto” (2023) captures a youth marked by grief, violence, and alienation. The programme opens with a surprise film, presenting two stories about a time when algorithms had not yet taken over.

Bruno Abib

Bruno Abib is a film editor and director. He studied at the Lisbon Theatre and Film School (ESTC). Since 2017, he has worked as an editor on films screened at international festivals such as La Semaine de la Critique (Cannes), International Film Festival Rotterdam, and CPH:DOX. As a director, his work draws on classical storytelling, blending elements of realism and abstraction to explore the impact of violence, alienation, and memory in suburban everyday life. “Death in August” (2023) received the Schools Award Special Mention at IndieLisboa and was screened at international festivals. He is currently developing his third fiction short, “None of Us”.

lian:e, from São Paulo and one of the mentors behind the RABIOSA project. Her DJ sets are characterized by a strong influence of the energy and vitality of Latin urban music, exploring sounds such as reggaeton, funk, dembow, or guaracha, intersecting with the pulsating rhythms of house and techno.
