Gémea Analógica is the name of the show of acoustic concerts that Filipe Sambado took on the road last year, following Três Anos de Escorpião em Touro (2023), from which they were recorded and now released on an album of the same name, and with a cassette edition by Revolve.
By stripping away the imposing expressiveness of the production of the studio versions, not only is its intimate and fragile side revealed: the very skin of the song is uncovered. It could be said, therefore, that Gémea Analógica doesn’t set out to highlight the contrast, but rather a deepening or return to the genesis of Três Anos de Escorpião em Touro.
However, Sambado doesn’t get lost or bogged down in this apparent contradiction, and shows once again that it is possible to bring together two apparently different ideas in the same song.
The solo concerts allow me to get very close to the audience, they are a moment of sharing embedded in minimized versions of the songs. Being able to listen to the audience over the music and my performance conditions me and involves me in thoughts and sensations. I’ve learned to deal with this and to allow myself to react to the stimuli. As in the composition and genesis of the songs, this concert format reproduces and recreates their urgency. It’s very intense to be able to feel the dynamics and the audience’s response.
