Mopiopio: sopro de Angola (1991)
By Zézé Gamboa
(doc, 56’)
To be presented in digital format.
The film opens in Lisbon, where, next to Terreiro do Paço, we are introduced to a young Angolan woman. A sharp cut transports the viewer to Luanda. This is where the actual film plot is introduced: the capital’s bustling music scene. Intertwining personal stories with rehearsals and performances by artists and musical groups, Mopiopio bears witness to the creative power of art that emerges, despite all the constraints, in the interstices of a city that resists.
