— exhibition by Pedro Henriques

01.08 — 27.09.24
Instituto Guimarães Rosa, Maputo

𝕽𝖔𝖉𝖆 𝕷𝖎𝖛𝖗𝖊, an exhibition by Pedro Henriques, curated by Natxo Checa, opened on 1 August at the Guimarães Rosa Institute in Maputo.

𝕽𝖔𝖉𝖆 𝕷𝖎𝖛𝖗𝖊 is organised between two workflows, the central axis ‘Color Cave’ from 2024 and a set of drawings from 2019.

‘Color Cave’ is configured as a set of hybrid images that embody the intersection of different visual layers on a single plane, simultaneously elusive and material. A paradoxical, obtuse proposal that thrives on mixed contrasts and exists in a kind of intermediate space, a limbo.

These images live beyond the analogue/digital dichotomies, they already see the absolute fusion of this binomial as the inescapable reality in which we are immersed and where there is less and less distinction between the palpable and the spectral, on a plane where the primacy of sensation sucks everything in with the same voracity.

‘Colour Cave’ tries to be on that same wavelength, where sensation predominates, not without the bewilderment of unusual humour, in a hallucinatory parade with its own indecipherable meanings.

The exhibition 𝕽𝖔𝖉𝖆 𝕷𝖎𝖛𝖗𝖊 will be open until 27 September and can be visited from Mon to Fri between 10am and 6pm.
